Pask Winery in Hastings began more than 30 years ago.
Pask wines have earned gold medals and trophy achievement in London, Australia, Asia, the united states, Canada and New Zealand across more than a few varietals and styles, however, innovation is critical to us. Drawing at the team’s winemaking experience and intimate understanding of Gimblett Gravels, we keep enhancing the first-rate of our wines, as well as experiment with wine patterns and strategies underneath our “Small Batch” series.
The story of our winery began in the air. Founder Chris Pask, who flew in his topdressing aircraft noticed the benefits of the Ngaruroro riverbed. Because of the mild, stony soils of the area consequently, he knew there was a huge capability for growing first-rate grapes.
Pask vineyards and winery are positioned within the province of Hawke’s Bay, at the east coast of the North Island. As a result, it is one of the freshest and sunniest regions of New Zealand. With 2320 annual sunshine hours, mild rainfall, shelter, the location is an excellent place for developing grapes of super first-rate.
Daytime temperatures in our vineyards may be up to three levels hotter throughout the day in summertime and autumn. Compare this with maximum different regions in Hawke’s Bay, the climate is favourable. In addition, the thermal conductivity in the stones contributes to hotter evenings. With the vineyard sheltered from the prevailing winds through the landmark Roy’s Hill, warm daylight temperatures coupled with the warming effects of the stony soil produce grapes of intense flavour.
