Tamara Riverside Lodge is a spacious Edwardian villa built in 1904 as a large private home. It has been used in a variety of ways over time including a boarding house and a private hotel. It also served as a maternity home called Cairnbrae for 30 years. In 1993, it became the Tamara Riverside Lodge and has evolved to be a place to return to. This elegant lodge enjoys an outstanding location on the banks of the majestic Whanganui River with views of Mt Ruapehu. Tamara Riverside Lodge is less than a 10-minute walk to central city, shops, banks, cafes, restaurants, art, and culture.
